Prior to forming the Legendary Hearts in 1987, Barney Bentall was part of the emerging Vancouver new wave music scene. Playing with formative bands, Brandon Wolf, and 1960’s cover band the Revengers. The band worked with producer Bob Rock on the demos that would spur CBS records to sign Bentall to a recording contract as well as convincing Bernie Finkelstein (Bruce Cockburn, Murray McLauchlan) to manage him. Resulting in The bands eponymous first record Barney Bentall and the Legendary Hearts.
The band earned a Juno Award and released several gold and platinum albums, including many radio staples. Constantly touring they performed over 150 shows a year between 1988 and 1994. Following the last date of their 1997 tour of Canada, the band went on hiatus with each member continuing on with separate musical endeavors.
Barney Bentall has released four solo records, Gift Horse, Inside Passage, Flesh and Bone and Tightrope Walk. Bentall will perform a variety of songs from his solo career Live on The Patio this summer at Roy Thomson Hall.
